Codemation lets a business build and run its own automated workflows without writing code. One of the ways those workflows reach people isWhatsApp: a customer messages your business number, your assistant reads it and decides what to do, and the reply goes back in the same conversation.
This page explains what that service does, what data it uses, and what happens to it. It is written for customers deciding whether to connect an account, and for anyone reviewing how we handle WhatsApp Business data.
Connecting your account
You connect your own WhatsApp Business account to Codemation from inside the product. You keep ownership of the account and the phone number throughout — we act on your behalf, with your permission, and only for as long as you leave the connection in place.
You do not need a spare phone number, and you do not need to open Meta's developer tools. If your number is already on the WhatsApp Business app, you can connect the number you already use.
What we do with your WhatsApp data
We use it in three ways, all on your behalf:
- Receive. We receive the messages people send to your business number.
- Process. We pass each message into the automation you built, so your assistant can read it and decide what to do — answer a question, look something up, or hand over to a person.
- Reply. We send your reply back to the person who messaged you, from your own number.
We also read your WhatsApp business account and phone number details. That is used for one thing only: making sure an incoming message reaches the right customer's workspace, and that a reply is sent from the right number.
Media works the same way. If someone sends a photo, a voice note, a document or a video, your workflow can read it, and your assistant can send files back.
What we do not do
- We never combine one customer's WhatsApp data with another customer's. Each business sees and controls only its own account, numbers and conversations.
- We never use your WhatsApp data for advertising.
- We never sell it or share it with anyone else.
- We do not message your customers on our own initiative. Your assistant replies inside a conversation someone started with you.
Staying in control
You can disconnect your WhatsApp account at any time from the product. When you do, we stop receiving and processing messages for that number immediately — not at the end of a billing period, and not after a delay.
A business phone number can be connected to exactly one Codemation workspace. If a number is already connected somewhere else, we refuse the connection rather than moving it, so your conversations cannot be redirected to another account.
